The apple rating indicates the relative strength of the study based on the criteria below:

The study design is appropriate to answer the designated research questions; the conclusions of the study are adequately supported by the results of the study; no methodological flaws jeopardize the studies results or generalizability. The study is less than high impact.

Five green apple

Neutral

The study is neither exceptionally strong nor exceptionally weak. At least one study design issues compromise the integrity of the study, but the conclusions are still mostly supported by the results that were presented.

Four green apple

Negative

The study has several design issues that compromise the integrity of the study. The conclusions are not supported by the results of the study or by science in general.
